Because it's 4/20, we know now is the perfect time to throw out a handful of ways to add THC to your cocktails. And while a lot of you may hate the idea of getting high while getting drunk, there's definitely a large group of people who are down with the crossfade combo — looking at you, musicians. So check out this list and chill, and if you can't chill, maybe try putting some bud in your drink.
1. THC Tinctures First up: marijuana tinctures. If you haven't heard of them, THC tinctures are basically little bottles of alcohol infused with THC, the active constituent of cannabis. They can be bought at the store, but making them is pretty easy if you can get your hands on the ingredients, which basically consist of bud and Everclear. Then all you need to do is bake the bud for a while, and dump it into a small jar along with the Everclear and let it sit for a few months, a few weeks, or even a few hours. The below video is a great explainer if you really want to learn how to make it on your own, otherwise you can buy it at the dispensary — assuming you live in an area that has one. https://www.youtube.com/embed/_mfGwZkffnQ Once you have either your homemade or dispensary-bought THC tincture, all you need to do is make your favorite cocktail, and add in a few drops of the tinky tink — and bam, you're good to go. Be very cautious about dosing your drink, of course, and you should probably start with very small amounts. 2. THC Bitters Next up we have THC bitters, and since you already know how to make THC tinctures from the last step, you also basically already know how to make THC bitters. Bitters, for the unacquainted, are just jars of alcohol that have been infused with various types of botanicals, such as orange peel, rhubarb, cilantro, lavender, vanilla beans, etc. etc. And to make bitters, all you really need to do is cut up the botanicals and let them soak in a darkened jar full of Everclear for three weeks in a dark place. (The below video is a solid explainer.) https://www.youtube.com/embed/IAY5uCxd97A If you want to make THC bitters, you're basically adding in one more botanical: marijuana. Just bake and cut the herb like you would for the tincture, then throw it into the booze along with whatever other botanicals you're using. Keep in mind that if you want to individuate the flavors, you'll need to put the different botanicals, along with the bud, in different jars. 3. THC Simple Syrup Making marijuana simple syrup is a little more involved than the tinctures, but it's still nothing too crazy, especially if you know your way around a kitchen. What you'll need is essentially some combination of water, fine granulated sugar, vegetable glycerine, marijuana, a bottle or jar, and cheesecloth. We're not giving exact measurements here, because they seem to vary based on source. Also, whether the marijuana is baked before hand in order to encourage decarboxylation varies depending on source. Below is a pretty good video on one particular method though. https://www.youtube.com/embed/7kGOtSncMhg 4. THC Vodka A.K.A. Green Dragon  THC vodka!!!! Damn, that sounds like a party, huh? It's not too hard to make either. All you need to do is take your ground-up herb, place it in a cheesecloth, sack up that cheesecloth, and let it steep in a double boiler for about 10 hours. Remember to keep the heat fairly low though, as you don't want to let too much of the vodka evaporate — the dude in the clip below goes over everything in more detail.  https://www.youtube.com/embed/-dWvJXaGmrQ 5. THC Milk Marijuana-infused milk for cocktails?! Yes, people, lots of cocktails call for milk, like all of these bad boys. And in terms of making it, it's super simple. All you need to do is take about an ounce of bud, bake it at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes — again, in order to decarboxylate it — and then steep it (in a cheesecloth) in about two cups of whole milk in a double boiler for about 45 minutes to an hour. Then you take your buddy milk out, strain it through a cheesecloth into a container, and bang, you have some warm weed-milk that's good to go. The below clip goes into a bit more detail if you need it.  https://www.youtube.com/embed/G6ZiTYLbApg 6. THC Soda A lot of cocktails call for soda, so if you're looking to add bud to your cocktail, this is something you'll definitely want to know about. For this one, what you'll need to do is pour 2.5 ounces of THC-infused simple syrup (which you learned how to make above) into an empty bottle, then add about 5-8 ounces of sparkling water or club soda, and then add a soda flavor packet, e.g. root beer flavor extract. Then you stir! It's super simple, but if you need some guidance, the clip below should cover you. Also, you can buy this stuff at your local dispensary.  https://www.youtube.com/embed/-sQuF0902k0 7. THC Sugar Finally we have marijuana-infused sugar, which is perfect for all the cocktails that either require sugar in their recipes, or just have sugar around their rims. To make cannabis sugar, all you need to do is take about 120ml of THC tincture, put it in a bowl, add about 100 grams of granulated sugar, and let the sugar soak up the tincture. Once the sugar has thoroughly soaked up the THC tincture, place it in the oven at about 200 degrees Fahrenheit for about an hour, pulling out the sugar about every 10 minutes to stir it. Check out the clip below for a look at the first few steps.  https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ye2Lng7Fl9o Are you down with adding THC to your cocktails?
